HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY LEYONCE ROSE
I will update soon..honest..

Thursday, February 16, 2006

Firstly i must post a photo of one of the blooms on the miniture rose bush hubby got me for valentines. It's beautiful. And to top up his wonderfulness he dug over the garden for me (tho if you read the garden blog, and his blog, linked on right, you will know i locked him out!!!)

The past week we have been doing valentines bits and bobs, and some work on koalas, and other austrailian animals (to go with merry's books) We have also been doing lots of art work to go with the other reading materials. They are going down well.

Our seddlings are growing well (click to see larger!) The first is snap dragons, and the second marigolds.

Before bed tonight we finished off with making some good old healthy shortbread.

SIMS

Vivienne has been asking and asking for ages to play sims, and she requested first thing this morning to try it, so we put the very first sims (with out add on packs, tho proudly i own them all tee hee hee) on her computer. As (though we are not religious) we have decided sunday is a day of rest (along with monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday and saturday) we let her spend as much time playing it as she wanted.....though we didn't realise that would be the WHOLE day! She has been a total addict!! She has had a renewed interest in reading today to play it properly. Once playing for a while she moved on to give the sim a swimming pool to be proud of!! (note on bottom right the neglect of sim!)

And Viviennes quote for the day, before bed, "people must be playing us"!!!

And lastly, i have a few game cube demo and cheat disks that were free from magazines. I know there are a few people out there that are like us dedicated game cube followers lol. If any body wants them, i can pop them in the post..just be first to contact me!!!

child led

We seem to have a week doing lots of work, and then a week off. I call the week off the autonomous week, where i let Vivienne decide when and if and what. This week is the week off, so apart from a reading lesson here and there ( for her 50p weekly pocket money!! ) not much has been done. Talking of her pocket money...her chart is looking decidedly bare this week (bed making etc) i might actually have to hold back her 50p! I think she is feeling a little rich from her tooth fairy visit!!!

On a plus lilly is learning to read....

Vivienne lost her tooth!!!

Vivienne lost her first tooth tonight before bed, after our tuesday night film (honey i shrunk the kids!!) She was very pleased, and i think alittle over whelmed..all her friends have already lost at least one. When daddy and i remarked how tiny it was, she replied "of course it's a baby tooth!!" she always makes sense!!

We have been doing lots of spring time type stuff here. Planting quite a few things. We have planted snap dragons in Vivs pot in her room, marigolds in the pot in the kitchen, and our potato grass head ( pics further down page ) is growing nicely.

We have been making lots and lots of lanterns to celebrate the chinese lantern festival, and brought it together yesterday by puttin them all up, and lighting candles for candlemas / imbolic on our so far very bare season table.

Thank you very much for all you kind words after my rant the other day. I understand the situation,, i just don't seem to have people around who research anything..they all believe in pushing the children, and filling them full of info, when they should be playing. So to all those against our decision or our relaxed way of learning..........

And one last thing..both my homebirth stories are now on www.homebirth.org.uk so go have a read if your bored!!
